The Open Church Project empowers homeless and low-income individuals to own land, build community, and thrive — with affordable down payments in the hundreds and monthly payments as low as $50–$100.
🏡 The Open Church Project Model
We set up properties where homeless people and low-income families can own their own land and live in communities with restrooms, showers, lighting, internet, electric, trash, and water. A small down payment (hundreds, not thousands) and affordable monthly payments ($50–$100) make land ownership achievable. Residents eventually own the land outright.
OCP facilitates marketing, advertising, project development, education, tech training, agriculture, and more to ensure each project succeeds. Every OCP site integrates sustainable agriculture & renewable energy, and we advocate for building materials & volunteers to build homes for the homeless.
🤝 Community, Mentorship & Independence
Each OCP Community comes with mentors, volunteers, and staff from several Oklahoma organizations ready to assist! We create long-term stability and independence through hands-on training, accountability, and shared responsibility. Residents gain pathways from homelessness to permanent housing and financial independence.
✅ Skill-building & tech training
✅ Sustainable agriculture & energy

Volunteer Camp
Each OCP has a small volunteer camp for volunteers of The OCP to serve the community. Volunteers range from mentors to builders to many positions. All volunteers are screened before being allowed onsite.

📍 OCP-2 — Macomb, Oklahoma | 7.5 acres with pond & utilities at road
📋 Interested in joining OCP-2 in Macomb, OK? This is not free land — it requires monthly dues and a small deposit. OCP-2 is for up to 24 sign-ups (quarter-acre lots). If 24 sign-ups do not happen, you will be directed to another OCP community project that most closely meets your needs.
7.5 acres total in Macomb, OK. Features a scenic pond, electric and water connections already available on the road. The project includes 24 quarter-acre household lots plus common areas for gardens, the future community center, and shared green space. Peaceful rural setting with easy utility access.
⚡ Power & Generator Start
A generator will be needed initially to power community essentials while permanent electrical infrastructure is finalized. OCP will coordinate the setup of a reliable power backbone. Long-term: grid electric connection ready at the road for expansion.
💧 Water & Utilities
Water connection available at the road, providing a straightforward path for potable water distribution to each lot. The pond adds natural beauty, stormwater retention, and potential for small-scale irrigation. OCP will oversee water line extension from the road connection.
🏡 Ownership & Costs
Down payment: $350 • Monthly: $100 per household → you get a quarter acre that you will eventually own. No hidden fees, trust agreement with fair rules (no violence, democratic vote-out process). Residents gain full control of upgrades after core amenities are in place.
🏢 Community Center & Kitchen
OCP will build and equip a community center featuring a full kitchen, dining area, meeting space, and laundry facilities. This hub will host shared meals, workshops, and community events, fostering connection and mutual aid.
🚐 Transportation & Services
OCP advocates for free or low-cost vehicles for homeless residents moving into Macomb. Partner organizations help secure donated cars and registrations. Group carpools to nearby Macomb and surrounding towns for errands, medical visits, and supply runs.
🛡️ Security & First Responders
Members will elect security guards and first responders from within the community, with professional training (CPR, first aid, conflict de-escalation, firearm safety where applicable). Democratic oversight ensures accountability and shared responsibility for safety.
🌱 Agriculture & Training
Community gardens, fruit trees, and permaculture zones around the pond. OCP facilitates workshops on off-grid basics, small-scale farming, solar/battery systems, and financial literacy. Mentors from Oklahoma organizations provide ongoing guidance.
📝 Free Land Registration
The Open Church Project accepts donated land and partners with generous supporters to expand our mission. However, free land is not guaranteed and the process requires patience.
⚡ IMPORTANT: The fastest and most reliable way to receive land through OCP is to join one of our existing community projects (OCP-1 or OCP-2) with a small down payment and monthly dues. Those projects are active and ready for new members.
⏳ Timeline & Reality
Submitting this form begins a review process that typically takes 30–90 days. In cases where no land donations or partnerships are immediately available, the process may take significantly longer.
🤝 How Free Land Works
If you submit this form, you will be placed on a waiting list. When land is donated or a partnership is formed, OCP will contact applicants. Free land recipients are still expected to contribute to community building and pay minimal monthly association fees (typically $50–$100) for shared amenities like water, electric, and infrastructure.
💡 Best Advice: Join an Active OCP Community
Instead of waiting for free land, we strongly encourage you to explore OCP-1 (Choctaw County) or OCP-2 (Macomb, OK). Both have land ready now, transparent pricing, and a clear path to ownership. You can secure a quarter acre for a deposit of $350–$400 and monthly payments of $100. That's a fraction of typical land costs, and you become part of a supportive, self-governing community immediately.
